First Setback

B1work

The office kitchen, Monday morning

The exam Maya had dreaded for two weeks came and went on Friday — and she passed. But Monday brought a bigger test.

Sam: The big project didn't turn out the way we hoped. A supplier dropped out, so I've had to put off the launch.

Sam: It's rough, but we're not going to give up — we just keep our heads and carry on.

Maya's desk, late that night

Maya stayed late, working out how to deal with the mess. Two ideas fought in her head.

By midnight she'd locked in the plan she'd chosen, line by line. Brutal — but she pulled it off, and ended up proud.

Sam: You handled that brilliantly. Setbacks are part of the job — not the end of it.
