Getting the chores done B1
Splitting up the jobs round the house on a Sunday.
Sort out the mess
clean up — make cleanA: This living room is a mess!
B: I know, let's clean up before our guests arrive.
take out — remove something from a placeA: Did you take out the trash this morning?
B: Yes, I put it by the door.
turn over — to turn something so the other side is facing upA: Did you read the answer?
B: Not yet, I need to turn over the page.
Jobs in the garden and at the door
cut the grass — mow the lawnA: What are you doing this weekend?
B: Not much, just have to cut the grass in the backyard.
close the door — shut a doorA: It's getting cold in here.
B: Oh, sorry! I'll close the door.
Sunday jobs
Jen: Right, can you clean up the kitchen while I do upstairs?
Mark: Will do. I'll take out the bins as well, they're overflowing.
Jen: Lovely. And can you cut the grass before it chucks it down?
Mark: Go on then. Close the door behind you, the cat keeps getting out.
Flipping the mattress
Priya: Give us a hand with the mattress, I want to turn it over.
Sam: What for?
Priya: You're meant to flip it every so often. While we're at it I'll clean up under the bed.
Sam: Blimey, look at the dust under there. Right, on three.
