B: No, I want to hold on to it for now.
do without — manage withoutA: Did you forget your phone again?
B: Yeah, but I guess I’ll just have to do without it today.
pick out — choose/selectA: Which shirt should I wear tonight?
B: I think you should pick out the blue one—it looks great on you.
The loft
Lee: Do we really need to hold on to all these old magazines?
Pat: I suppose we could do without them, yeah.
Lee: Right, charity shop pile then.
Pat: Pick out any you actually want first, mind.
The wardrobe
Pat: Pick out a few jumpers to keep and the rest can go.
Lee: I'm holding on to this one, it's still good.
Pat: You've not worn it in years. You can do without it.
Lee: Fair enough, bin bag it is.
