Do you enjoy watching sport more, or actually playing it?

A natural way to answer

I think I enjoy both, but for different reasons. Watching a big match with friends is a lovely social thing, whereas playing gives me that sense of being fully involved. If I had to choose, I'd probably say watching.

Key phrases to use

  • have a go — to try doing something, often for the first time“Go on, have a go, it's easier than it looks.”
  • edge-of-your-seat — so exciting or tense that you can't relax while watching“It was an edge-of-your-seat finish.”
  • hold its breath — to wait nervously and silently for something to happen“The whole crowd held its breath as he took the penalty.”
