When you travel, do you take lots of photos or do you prefer to just live the moment?

A natural way to answer

I try to strike a balance. A few good photos help the memories come back later, but if I'm constantly snapping away I end up missing out on the actual experience. These days I take one or two and then put it down.

Key phrases to use

  • be in the moment — focus fully on what's happening right now“Try to be in the moment instead of recording it.”
  • through a screen — experiencing something via a phone or device rather than directly“Don't watch the sunset through a screen.”
  • miss out on — fail to experience or enjoy something good“I didn't want to miss out on the local nightlife.”
  • from behind a lens — observing through a camera rather than directly“I'd seen the whole trip from behind a lens.”
  • drink it all in — look at and enjoy something fully and eagerly“We stood at the top and drank it all in.”
