Some say children today spend too little time outdoors. If you could change one thing about that, what would it be?

C1Nature & the outdoorsWhat if

A natural way to answer

If I could change one thing, I'd build more unstructured outdoor time into the school day, time to explore rather than to be taught. I think children spend too long indoors and on screens, and being outside is good for both body and mind. Once they get a taste for it, they usually keep coming back.

Key phrases to use

  • get a taste for — to start to enjoy something and want more of it after experiencing it“After one trip, she got a taste for travelling and never stopped.”
  • gone overboard — done something to an excessive or extreme degree“I think we've gone overboard with how much time kids spend on screens.”
