There's an old idea that great art comes from struggle or pain. How much truth is there in that, do you think?

A natural way to answer
There's clearly something to it - hardship gives people depth to draw from, and pain can be a powerful subject. But I'd be wary of treating suffering as a prerequisite. Plenty of great art is born of joy, curiosity, or sheer discipline, and the myth of the suffering artist can do more harm than good if it glamorises misery.
