When you want to start working towards something new, what's the best first step in your experience?

B2Dreams & goalsAdvice

A natural way to answer

In my experience, the best first step is getting clear on why the goal matters to you. Once the reason is strong, it's much easier to follow through. After that, I'd break it into small, doable actions.

Key phrases to use

  • get the ball rolling — start a process or activity“Let's get the ball rolling on the new project.”
  • follow through — complete something you said or planned to do“It's easy to make plans, harder to follow through.”
  • backing out — deciding not to do something you had agreed to“He agreed to help, then started backing out.”
  • get cracking — start doing something quickly and energetically“We've got a lot to do, so let's get cracking.”
