Has an advert ever actually convinced you to buy something?

A natural way to answer

Occasionally, yes. A well-made advert can make something look like a must-have, even when I don't need it. I try to be aware of it, but clever marketing can still win me over now and then.

Key phrases to use

  • caved in — finally gave in after resisting for a while“I held out for weeks, then caved in and bought it.”
  • got under my skin — stayed in my mind and kept bothering or tempting me“That jingle really got under my skin.”
  • win me over — to gradually persuade you to like or agree with something“The free sample won me over.”
  • talked myself into — to persuade yourself to do something you weren't sure about“I talked myself into buying the expensive one.”
