how do I get to — ask for directions

expressionB1IELTS 4+neutralcore

The standard way to ask someone how to reach a place.

Pattern: How do I get to [place] (from here)?

In use

  • Excuse me, how do I get to the train station from here?street
  • A: Excuse me, how do I get to the old town?
B: Go straight, then left at the lights.
    asking a local

Common mistake

✗ How I can go to the museum?

✓ How do I get to the museum?

Use 'How do I get to …?'; 'get to' = reach, and the question needs 'do I'.

Don't confuse it

'Get to' = reach a place; don't drop 'to' ('How do I get the museum?' is wrong).
