Looking after the kids B1
Babysitting the nieces and nephews when they're playing up.
look after — take care ofA: Who's going to look after the kids tonight?
B: Don't worry, my sister said she can babysit.
act up — misbehaveA: Why is your dog barking so much?
B: Sorry, he's just acting up because he's hungry.
get on with — have a good relationshipA: Do you get on with your boss?
B: Yeah, she's actually really easy to talk to.
Handing over at the door
A: Thanks so much for agreeing to look after them tonight.
B: No bother at all. Anything I need to know?
A: The little one might act up at bedtime, just be firm with him.
B: Will do. He always gets on with me anyway, so we'll be grand.
Reporting back
A: How were they? Did they behave for you?
B: Mostly. The eldest acted up a bit over the telly, but nothing major.
A: Sorry about that. They can be a handful when I'm not there.
B: Honestly, they're lovely. The two of them get on with each other so well.
