take in B2 — deceiveA: Did you believe what he said?
B: Yeah, I was totally taken in. I didn't realize he was lying.

take advantage — use for benefitA: There’s a sale on flights this weekend.
B: Really? We should take advantage and book our tickets now.

pay a fine — pay a penaltyA: Why did you look upset?
B: I just had to pay a fine for parking in the wrong spot.

A dodgy text

A: I got a text saying I owe tax and I've got to pay a fine by midnight or I'm in trouble.

B: Don't touch it, that's a scam. They're trying to take you in.

A: Reckon? It looked dead official.

B: They always do. The taxman never texts you like that.

Too good to be true

A: This bloke online's selling a phone for next to nothing.

B: Sounds like he's trying to take advantage of people who don't check.

A: Yeah, I'll give it a miss. If it's that cheap, something's not right.

B: Good shout. Better safe than sorry.
