Back on your feet
Jo: You sound much better than last week!
Sam: I am, thanks. It took me ages to get over that flu.
Jo: I'm not surprised — you were really poorly.
Sam: I know. I'm just glad to be bouncing back at last.
After the operation
Jo: How's your dad doing after the surgery?
Sam: Much better. For a while we weren't sure he'd pull through.
Jo: That must have been so frightening.
Sam: It was. But he's home now and getting stronger every day.
