Cooking and serving at home B1
Throwing a meal together in the kitchen and dishing it up for everyone.
Checking there's enough to feed everyone
go around — be enough for everyoneA: Do we have enough chairs for everyone?
B: I think so—there should be plenty to go around.
Getting the food ready
mix up — combine thingsA: How do you make this salad?
B: Just mix up all the vegetables and add some dressing.
cut the cake — slice cakeA: Who's going to cut the cake?
B: Let’s ask Dad—he’s good at making even slices.
Will there be enough?
Megan: There's a few more coming than I thought. Do you reckon this'll go around?
Tom: Should be fine. I'll knock up another bowl of salad just in case.
Megan: Nice one. Bung a bit more pasta on as well, to be safe.
Tom: Will do. No one's going home hungry on my watch.
Pudding time
Sophie: Right, who's going to cut the cake, then?
Dan: I'll do it. Small slices, mind, or it won't go around.
Sophie: Fair enough. There's eight of us and it's not a big one.
Dan: Sorted. I'll knock up some custard to go with it as well.
